What is you favourite Norxe product, and why?
P60 – Our latest and most advanced product, delivering unmatched performance and power.
1. What problem do you solve every day that most people never think about?
A significant portion of my time is spent on tasks that are not directly related to my core responsibilities, such as resolving issues with computers, managing software licenses, handling passwords, and troubleshooting programs. These activities often create delays and reduce overall productivity.
2. What part of your job would surprise people outside the industry?
Optics is more approachable than most people expect. At its core, it is applied physics, and with a structured approach, anyone can master it. By staying organized and following fundamental principles during measurements, the work becomes straightforward and highly manageable.
3. Which Norxe product or technology are you most proud of working on, and why?
We continuously learn and improve with every product we develop, and these insights are directly implemented into new designs. A great example is the P60 platform, which has been optimized based on lessons from previous platforms. The result is a more powerful and efficient solution that reflects our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
4. What’s a misconception people have about projection technology?
“Why do you still make projectors? Isn’t that old technology?” This is a question I often hear from people who associate projectors with the classroom devices they used years ago. The reality is that every technology has its strengths and limitations. Projection may not be ideal in environments with strong ambient light, such as direct sunlight through windows. However, for curved surfaces or rooms with controlled lighting, projection remains the superior solution—offering flexibility, scalability, and visual impact that other display technologies cannot easily match.
5. What’s a small detail you obsess over that makes a big difference for customers?
One area I am particularly focused on is achieving maximum efficiency at a specific color point within the illumination system. I am committed to optimizing performance and consistently strive to extract every possible lumen from the system to ensure the highest light output and overall effectiveness.
6. What does “quality” mean to you in your role?
For me, quality starts with longevity. While there are many factors that define quality, a long lifetime is a clear indicator of excellence. Achieving this means selecting reliable light sources, ensuring effective thermal management, and choosing materials based on durability. It also requires rigorous testing early in the development process to validate performance and reliability over time.
7. Which project or installation has been most memorable to you?
Our first installation, completed eight years ago in Stavanger, Norway, was a helicopter simulator that is still fully operational today. That project marked an important milestone for us and you always remember your first time 🙂
8. What do you think sets Norxe apart from the rest of the industry?
A company is defined by its people, and at Norxe we are fortunate to have an exceptional team driven by curiosity and innovation. Our culture is deeply rooted in technology, with a strong passion for solving complex challenges. This mindset not only fuels our progress but also connects us with some of the world’s leading companies, enabling us to form partnerships with the best minds and organizations in the industry.
9. What’s one skill people in your line of work absolutely need?
Teamwork is critical. Strong collaboration skills are essential, whether working cross-functionally or within a single discipline. Innovation is rarely the result of one individual—it’s almost always the outcome of contributions from multiple team members. By leveraging diverse expertise and working together toward a common goal, teams consistently achieve faster and more effective results.
10. What part of your job do you enjoy the most?
The early stages of a project are always exciting—exploring architectural concepts and evaluating new technologies from suppliers for potential integration. This phase often leads to the creation of a Proof of Concept (POC), which is both creative and rewarding. Following this, we enter the most time-consuming and critical stage: deciding whether to move forward with industrialization. It is essential that developers remain involved throughout all phases, from concept to production, to foster learning and ensure a strong sense of ownership of the final product.
11. What’s a detail in your work that makes a big difference for customers?
Selecting the right suppliers for our components has the greatest impact on the value we deliver to customers. Strong partnerships built on quality, transparent communication, and honesty about challenges are essential. These qualities ensure we achieve the best solutions and deliver products that are both reliable and trustworthy.
12. What’s a project or moment you’re particularly proud of?
Several years ago, one of our colleagues experienced the tragic loss of his wife to cancer. The strength and resilience he showed in returning to work and managing this difficult period is truly an example to follow. It’s not about any single person doing something extraordinary, but about the supportive team environment we have built—where people feel comfortable enough to be themselves and regain a sense of normalcy in everyday life.
13. What’s something people might be surprised to learn about your role?
It’s straightforward—anyone can learn to do it.
14. What’s the best thing a colleague has taught you?
Fostering a positive and enjoyable work environment is essential. Humor and having fun as a team help build stronger connections and reduce unnecessary tension. In a world full of overly serious attitudes and self-proclaimed “alpha” personalities, creating a culture where people feel comfortable, collaborative, and engaged makes all the difference.
