Norxe P60 projectors power high-resolution visual systems for Pilatus PC-7 MKX training

Norxe projection technology has been selected for two new high-resolution visual display systems developed by project: syntropy for Pilatus Aircraft’s PC-7 MKX Flight Training Devices.

Fredrikstad, Norway – Norxe P60 4K n-shift projectors are at the heart of two immersive visual display systems (VDS) delivered by project: syntropy for Pilatus Aircraft Ltd in Stans, Switzerland.

Developed for the new Pilatus PC-7 MKX Flight Training Devices (FTDs), each system combines a 4-metre SYNJETSIM fibreglass dome with a five-channel 4K projection system, providing a 220° horizontal field of view and a vertical field of view extending from -42.5° to +90°.

Creating a convincing training environment across such a wide field of view places significant demands on the visual system, requiring high image detail and smooth motion alongside consistent performance across all five projection channels.

The visual systems use Norxe P60 4K n-shift projectors equipped with Aechelon image-generation technology, delivering high-resolution, responsive imagery required for professional flight training.

Designed specifically for demanding simulation and visualization applications, the P60 delivers up to 8K@240Hz imagery, combining exceptional image detail with the motion performance required for the most demanding training and simulation environments.

Its solid-state NXL™ illumination platform is designed for long-term operation, with more than 60,000 hours of rated illumination lifetime.

The projector’s ability to combine high resolution with high frame rates and low latency makes it particularly well-suited to multi-channel simulation environments, where image detail, motion response, and consistency across the complete field of view are critical to creating a convincing training environment.

Each P60 was paired with Norxe’s N1 Extra Wide Zoom lens, allowing a 0.80–1.25:1 throw ratio at 4K UHD resolution. Designed for demanding installations where space and projector positioning can be challenging, the N1 features an all-glass optical design, Scheimpflug adjustment and Norxe’s Lens Lock technology, helping ensure the optics remain securely positioned once the system has been aligned.

The complete visual display solution was designed and integrated by project: syntropy and incorporates automatic calibration and optical blend masks to create a continuous image across the dome.

“We are extremely proud to be working with project: syntropy on such a high-profile installation for Pilatus,” said Henning Kirchner, Business Development Director (Central & Eastern Europe and Benelux) at Norxe.

“Simulation environments like this place huge demands on the visual system, where image quality, speed and consistency across every channel are critical. With features such as CLO for stable brightness and colour performance over time, high resolution, low latency, the P60 is an ideal solution for demanding flight simulation applications. It is fantastic to see the technology being used as part of these new PC-7 MKX training systems.”

“Pilatus Team is a highly technically skilled group, we are proud that Pilatus have chosen to rely on us for the visual system in their training device for PC-7 MKX,” says Christoph Bode, CTO/Owner, project: syntropy GmbH.
