Norxe expands beyond projection with preview of new direct view LED technology

New dvLED platform brings high-frame-rate performance, low latency and NVG support to direct view LED

Fredrikstad, Norway – 02/11/26 – Norxe will introduce its first direct view LED (dvLED) display technology during two major industry events in Orlando this November, marking the next stage in the company’s development from a specialist projector manufacturer into a broader display technology provider.

The new technology will be demonstrated at IAAPA Expo 2026 and I/ITSEC 2026, where Norxe will invite customers and partners to explore the platform and help shape its continued development.

The preview also introduces Norxe’s new company tagline, “Displaying new standards”, reflecting its commitment to applying the same engineering principles across a wider range of display technologies. With R&D, engineering and manufacturing based in Norway, Norxe retains direct control over product development, performance and continued innovation.

Norxe has built its reputation by developing high-performance projectors for some of the most demanding simulation environments. Its new dvLED platform extends this expertise to direct view displays, with an initial focus on the specific requirements of simulation and immersive entertainment.

The system supports frame rates up to 240Hz with low latency, making it suitable for applications where image response and motion handling are critical. Support for ST 2110 IP video will enable video to be transported over standard network infrastructure, helping reduce the cabling and associated equipment required within an installation. Redundancy for both power and video is also central to the design, reflecting the importance of uptime in professional simulation, training and entertainment environments.

Rather than developing the display as a standalone product, Norxe is building it around its tried-and-tested Unify electronics and API platform. This provides a common technology foundation across Norxe display products, bringing the controller, software and supporting tools into the wider Unify ecosystem.

The platform will also be supported by Unify Display Manager, Norxe’s pre-installation design and configuration tool. It will allow integrators to design the LED wall and plan the complete system, including the required controllers, cabling and associated components, before installation begins.

The platform will be available in pixel pitches of 0.7mm, 0.9mm, 1.2mm and 1.5mm, addressing applications ranging from close-viewed simulator displays to larger immersive installations.

For simulation, the platform supports Night Vision Goggle training using dedicated infrared diodes and continuous time-of-day simulation through precise dimming control, allowing the display to reproduce visual conditions across daylight, dusk, night and dawn scenarios. The system will be TAA compliant.

“Norxe has always focused on the complete image and what is required to produce it reliably in a demanding application,” said Espen Olsen, Vice President Global Sales at Norxe.

“Projection remains a major part of what we do, but it is the performance of the display that ultimately matters to the customer. Moving into direct view LED allows us to apply our experience in high frame rates, low latency, night vision, color management and system reliability to another display technology.

“This is deliberately an early preview. We want to show customers and partners the direction we are taking, understand what they need from a Norxe dvLED solution and bring that feedback directly into the engineering process. It is the beginning of a wider conversation about how Norxe can support the complete visual system.”

From simulation to immersive entertainment

Although simulation remains the primary focus of the new platform, Norxe sees clear crossover with the visitor attractions market.

Dark rides and other immersive attractions share many of the visual requirements found in simulation, including accurate color, convincing motion, deep black levels, reliable operation and close integration between the display and the wider system. The introduction of dvLED will give attraction designers and integrators another way to bring Norxe display fidelity into environments where projection may not always be the best fit.

Norxe projectors across I/ITSEC

Featuring on its own booths, Norxe will demonstrate the performance and flexibility of its P55 and P60 projector platforms across several simulation configurations.

At I/ITSEC, a P60 8K n-shift IR will run at 240Hz with the FlightSafety VITAL image generator, while a P60 4K IR will demonstrate native 4K operation at 240Hz with Nucleus. A further Nucleus-powered demonstration will feature the P55 8K n-shift IR operating at 6K n-shift and 120Hz.

Norxe technology will also feature in three partner installations elsewhere on the I/ITSEC show floor.

  • Electric Picture Display Systems and Scalable Display Technologies will present a three-channel P60 4K IR system on Booth 1201.
  • Q4 Services will use seven P60 8K n-shift IR projectors, operating at 6K n-shift, to power a front-projected spherical display on Booth 1821.
  • 3D Perception’s DRACO dome will feature seven P55 8K n-shift IR projectors, comprising six main display channels and a dedicated HUD channel on Booth 719.

Together, these demonstrations will show Norxe projectors working across different image generators, frame rates, resolutions and display geometries, from compact multi-channel systems to complete dome and spherical-screen installations.
